    Research Assistant

    Primary Investigator: Toru Shimizu, Ph.D.
    •As a research assistant in this behavioral neuroscience lab, I applied histological techniques, including transcardial perfusions, stereotaxic surgery, tissue mounting, as well as immunohistochemistry. In addition, I worked on a behavioral study with pigeons involving self recognition.

    Primary Investigator: Jennifer Bosson, Ph.D.
    •As a research assistant in this social psychology lab, I worked closely with graduate students, assisting them with their studies. One study involved interpersonal relationships. My duties for this study included running participants through deceptive trials. Another study focused on aggression and manhood threats. In this lab, my duties included running participants through deceptive trials and obtaining saliva samples (with which to test for testosterone and cortisol levels).

    •This clinical psychology lab focused on the effects of drugs and alcohol usage and the transition from childhood to adolescence. In this lab, my duties included running various family members through intense 3-6 hours assessment sessions (which were to be completed by each family twice yearly).

    Research Interests:
    -Recovery of function following traumatic brain injury and neurodegenerative diseases. This includes characterizing animal models of traumatic brain injury as well as examining possible neuroprotective agents.

    -The title of my master's thesis is: Assessment of Cognitive Rehabilitation Following Bilateral Frontal Traumatic Brain Injury in Rats.

    •Working as an assistant manager has further increased my leadership skills. I worked with people constantly while managing a store and full staff of employees.
