    In the upcoming academic year 2015-2016 I am lecturing and acting as class co-ordinator on Business Law as well as acting as the class co-ordinator and lecturing on Legal Process. I have undertaken these roles for the last four academic years. I will also be taking some Business Law, and Public Law tutorials as I have done since 2011.I had previously been a visiting lecturer in Public Law and Company Law at the University.

    During my time as Head I had extensive experience in contributing to and leading the growth and development of law teaching in the School. This included external income generation with a range of organisations in both the public and private sector. I was also engaged in negotiation and liaison with University management on an ongoing basis and was a member of the University Senate and contributed to a number of University committees .I taught on range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. My main teaching areas were in the field of Public and Employment law. During this time I was also a visiting lecturer in Public Law at the University of Strathclyde. I have authored and co-authored books on Agency, Sale and Supply of Goods, Accountability, Employment contracts , Delict and a general textbook on Scottish Business Law.I was for many years the co-editor of Greens Business Law Bulletin.I have been an external examiner at the Universities of Abertay, Napier and Manchester.In 1999 I was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Insitute of Advanced Legal Studies London.Upon my retiral from Caledonian I was awarded the title of Emeritus Head of Law.

    Director General

    Following the appointment of the previous Director General as Head of Transport Scotland I was appointed as Director General. In addition to the normal duties and responsibilities of the Chief Executive of an organisation with approximately 800 staff I had two specific responsibilities.The first of these was to oversee the drafting of the Glasgow Airport Rail Link Bill(later the Glasgow Airport Rail Link Act 2006) as I was the Bill's promoter. This was done to timetable. The second task was to oversee the TUPE transfer of the staff of the Transport Executive to Transport Scotland and the new West of Scotland Transport Partnership which had been established by the Scottish Parliament.This was also carried out to timetable.As Director General I worked with elected members at local, national and European level as well as their officials on a daily basis.I also held security clearance at counter terrorism level.
