Honestly, this class is pretty interesting but Prof Tarone did not explain his expectations from us. He kind of expects you to be an expert on forensics and ento already and there's just so much outside work. He would always reply with sass whenever I ask him questions. I actually did not enjoy this class because I'm mostly disappointed.

Worked in the Foran lab studying quantitative and functional genetic aspects of Lucilia sericata development as a means of improving forensic applications of blow fly biology.

  • University of Southern California

    Postdoctoral Research Associate

Worked in Sergey Nuzhdin's lab doing resequencing and allele-specific expression research. Also worked with Magnus Nordborg's lab to learn association mapping.

  • UC Davis

    Postgraduate Research Assistant

Worked for two labs in the Section of Evolution and Ecology. I worked in Charles Langley's lab with Dan Barbash on the Hybrid male rescue (Hmr) gene and in Sergey Nuzhdin's lab studying natural variation in the expression of sex determination genes.

  • Texas A&M University, Department of Entomology

    Assistant Professor

I do genetic and genomic research on fruit flies and blow flies. My research goals are to develop a better understanding of the evolution and ecology of life history traits in these flies, which has medical, agricultural, and forensic repercussions.

I also teach entomology and forensic science undergraduate and graduate courses.
