Biography

San Jose State University - Meteorology

Experience

  • San Jose State University

    Lecturer

I currently teach upper-division students of all different (mostly non-science) majors:
    1) Introduction to Global Climate Changes (METR 112)
    2) Introduction to Air Pollution (METR 113)

I have developed my own unique curriculum for each course and have designed it in a way that teaches challenging atmospheric science concepts to non-science majors.

In the past I have also taught courses on Introduction to Weather and Climate (METR 10) to college freshmen and sophomores.

I have a passion for explaining difficult science concepts to a wide-array of different students to quench their science curiosities.

    Research Assistant

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Experience:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    - I have assisted with maintenance and development of SJSU CAARE's realtime WRF for our local San Francisco Bay Area weather model. I have experience in developing WRF on a high performance computer system for real-time weather forecasts, WRF data assimilation, and experimenting with new ways to improve our realtime WRF forecasts. Also, I have some experience in helping to design our realtime WRF website.

-I helped to manage and lead the SJSU ozonesonde release program (2016—2018). I began by leading the SJSU Ozonesonde weather balloon releases during the 2016 California Baseline Ozone Transport Study (CABOTS). I manged 2 different balloon release sites in CA and was responsible for training 5 other graduate and undergraduate students how to prepare and release ozonesonde instruments. We continued to release ozonesondes at SJSU to this day.

-I was a Spring 2017 National Science Foundation (NSF) Innovation-Corps (I-Corps) Entrepreneurial Lead for the Team “SJSU Hydro”. I interviewed over 100 professionals in the agriculture and weather business about the need for improved skill and accuracy in short term weather forecasts and for doing research in what people want in a short term weather forecast.

-In Summer 2017, I led a team of SJSU undergrad and graduate students to conduct research for the Total Solar Eclipse Radiosonde Project in Newport, OR during the 2017 North America Solar Eclipse.

-I have presented my WRF and air quality research in meetings and professional conferences, giving both oral and poster presentations to large audiences.
